Well my mom came in for the weekend on the 16th and we had a blast with what little time we had. We saw What Happens in Vegas at the new Rave. That theater is so awesome. The movie was hilarious and touching. I love Cameron Diaz! We also did a little bit of shopping, [I think guilt caused some purchases. haha] Then we took Jeffrey to dinner at McGuire's Irish Pub and left a dollar bill on the ceiling, which is tradition. If you ever have the good fortune to come out here, you MUST eat at McGuire's! The atmosphere alone is worth the trip!
Sunday morning we had a tearful goodbye. I miss my mom so much, I shed a few tears every other day when I get off the phone with her.
Later that day we drove out to Jeff's Uncle David's house to celebrate his grandma's 77th birthday. Lots of fun! We ate , talked, swam, played foosball with his 10 year old cousin Josh. Jeff won every game but I think it waws just beginner's luck. [Can you believe he had never played foosball before?]
Monday and Tuesday my grandparents came to town on their way out West. We went to the "Gulf-arium" in Ft. Walton Beach. They had a really cute show with a sea lion and two dolphins, and then the all dolphin show was spectacular! Tuesday we hung out at the hotel, Jeff came with me this time, then went to Bayview park to enjoy the perfect weather. Unfortunately somewhere between the La Quinta Inn, the park and Golden Corral my glasses were abducted by aliens. Seriously, they disappeared into thin air.
I finally got new ones today after a week and a half of migraines and blurred vision. I think they were worth the wait though because they are absolutely fabulous! [I will post pictures soon!]
I saw my recruiter yesterday, lost 6 pounds by the way!, and we discussed my options. If I want to wait for one of the 5 jobs I chose it could be anytime between August and November that I leave for bootcamp. So I'm now thinking scratch that idea. If I do a quick ship my enlistment contract will go from 6 to 4 years and I'll have the option to cross-train into my desired MOS in 3 years. Though I will lose a paygrade if I do that. Anyway, I think I will definitely excel in any MOS so I will most likely be quick-shipping out of here ina few weeks.
All in all it has been an eventful and, at times, emotional couple of weeks. I will have pictures in the next post but right now I am going to snuggle with Jeffrey and watch one of the greatest movies of all time. That's right people, Star Wars! Episode IV, A New Hope!
Love, Airman Irish
